SCHOOL DROPOUT IN MOTOR VEHICLE PROJECT

A form four dropout Brown Chikopa, who started a motor vehicle manufacturing project has said he needs K1.6 million to finish assembling a car he started in 2022.

The Area 21 B Lilongwe resident who failed to write his MSCE Examinations in 2014 at Linga CDSS in Nkhotakota following his father’s dismissal, told ProjectM that he is facing challenges to cover the costs of the project.

He adds that after failing to achieve his educational goals he left for Botswana in 2015 in search of a better life and he joined a car manufacturing company where he learned about building and assembling a motor vehicle.

He said: “We can take pride in manufacturing a comprehensive range of cars and it is manageable. However, to industrialise innovative technologies needs more resources. We are calling upon well-wishers to come forward and support this project.”

Chikopa, however, said in the first stage of building the car, he spent K1.8 million.

He said for the car to start moving on the road it requires some other items  such as tyres, steering lack sheets.

In terms of the raw materials he said, most of them can be accessed locally except the engine and the gear box which he said have to be imported.

Apart from car manufacturing, the Lilongwe-based entrepreneur has said he is capable of building and assembling other things such as electric bicycles for the disabled, motorcycles, agricultural machinery for planting and harvesting crops.

”In today’s rapidly evolving technological world, this underscores the advancement of transportation innovations while positioning our country as a formidable player in the global race towards achieving the Malawi 2063 blueprint,” he said.
