The construction of four new health posts in Nkhata Bay has started, marking a significant milestone in the district’s efforts to improve healthcare services.
Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony at Jaluvisi community ground, Senior Chief Malanda commended the government for its commitment to bringing health facilities closer to the people.
“The construction of these health posts will ease mobility challenges and improve health service delivery in our district,” said Chief Malanda.
Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, said the construction of the health posts is part of a larger project aimed at building 900 health posts across the country.
“We have already constructed almost 200 health posts and we are committed to achieving Sustainable Development Goal Number Three, which ensures every person has access to good health and well-being,” said Minister Chiponda.
The four health posts, located in Chimbere, Banda, Kayowozi and Malonya, are expected to be completed within three months. Each site will have a health post, two staff houses, incinerator, ash pit, solar electricity and other essential facilities.
Christiana Banda from Lungo Village in Group Villagehead Gombo welcomed the development, saying it will enable residents to access good health services.
The construction of the health posts is a significant step towards improving healthcare services in Nkhata Bay.
The project is expected to benefit thousands of residents in the district.
